    I took my 2009 Mazda 5 to Ronnie Smith Transmission on 08/07/2023 because the transmission wasn't shifting into overdrive. They called by Wednesday 08/09/2023 to inform me that it needed a solenoid replaced. They gave me a quote of a little under 400.00 dollars. From this date on, I didn't get any updates from them. I called each day for updates and they would tell me they were waiting for the part. On Friday 08/11/2023 they told me the part came in that morning after I told them I would come pick up my car and take it somewhere else. They then told me they wouldn't be able to start working on it until Monday 08/14/23. I never got any updates on the progress. I called throughout the week for updates. Finally when I called on 08/22/23 they said my car was ready to be picked up. I went to pick it up and was charged more than I was quoted. They said that they replaced a second solenoid while they had it taken apart. I was never notified that it needed another solenoid replaced. Before I left I asked if it was shifting correctly and he said he assumed so or they wouldn't have said it was ready. They did tell me that I would have to take it to an automotive shop to get some electrical work done. They said it could be the control module or a wiring harness, but they weren't sure. We I started my car and put it in gear the transmission light came on immediately and my car still wouldn't shift into overdrive.

    Took my car in because it wouldn't shift in to overdrive. My car was there 2 weeks and was charged 486.09 and the problem was not fixed. They told me that now I need to take it to an automotive shop to have an electrical problem repaired. They are not sure if it's the control module or wiring harness.

    We are sorry you are dissatisfied but we were very clear letting you know from the beginning that replacing the solenoid would be a first step in the repair and that it could have caused other damage to electrical system. Your work order documents the communication you received through the process including further recommendations if solenoid replacement did not provide a permanent fix. Cars today are very complex and sometimes extended diagnostics to repair are a requirement along with additional diagnostics. Again we are very sorry and hope all goes well the the further repairs.
